The NWOBHM was a movement that gave birth to many talented bands, some of which became living legends of the genre. Although Spartan Warrior never made it to the first league, their records are still worthy representatives of the old school of the British scene, a masterful combination of 70's Hard Rock and Heavy Metal's most brazen of the 80's. Formed in Sunderland in 1980, the quintet by Dave Wilkinson, voice, Neil Wilkinson and Paul Swaddle, guitars, Tom Spencer, bass and Gordon Webster, battery, published 'Steel & Chains' in 1983 and this "Spartan Warrior' in 1984. As I say, two forgotten classics that really capture the essence of the NWOBHM. With obvious similarities to bands like Saxon, Tank, Iron Maiden and even Scorpions, Spartan Warriror music represented in a clear and clear all the best features of the NWOBHM movement.
