Q5 - STEEL THE LIGHT (1984)

Steel The Light was the debut album by this band from Seattle. Published in the late summer of 1984, Q5 brought a breath of fresh air to the northwest coast of North America. Along with three former members of another legend of Seattle, TKO, Evan Sheeley (bass), Rick Pierce (guitar) and Gary Thompson (drums), Floyd Rose (guitar) and Jonathan K. (Voice) Q5 founded and began to compose. Recorded Two demos in 1983 and 1984. Q5HOA01 The Albatross label heard about the superior quality of the compositions and sent the band into the studio to record the LP-length is known as Steel The Light. Music For Nations took the band to the European launch. The reviews were extremely positive. Each metal magazine in the world loved the album and got only positive feedback. For some reason it did not help sales at all. The highlight of the career of the band was touring with Lita Ford, and share the stage with Twisted Sister and Y & T. It's a shame that this album and this band or have not been recognized. Poor record sales (despite phenomenal critical) and a gradual decline in popularity was that the band decided to make a sequel more "commercial" Steel The Light: When The Mirror Cracks was published in 1985. This album worked even worse than its predecessor and the band never recovered. Floyd Rose scored a hit in the future ... with the invention of the tremolo system that bears his name, while Jonathan K., Evan Sheeley Rick Pierce and formed Nightshade. But despite its short life, the band managed to release one of the best pieces of Metal and Hard Rock would never have seen the light. Forget Def Leppard (guess who?), Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Savatage or Thin Lizzy, Van Halen and Boston. Q5 offers on their first album a brilliant and clever mix of them all with a polished clear sound and refreshing majestic two-guitar riffs and great melodies, rounded with a serious text with social messages. The result is simply gorgeous, and ahead of its time. Q5 teacher exercised with this record. Again I stress the fate damn this band. A jewel in the Hard Rock.
